ABOUT THE IMAGE: The Legend of Johnny Appleseed is an animated short musical segment from Walt Disney's 1948 film Melody Time. It tells the story of John Chapman, who spent most of his life roaming the Midwestern United States and planting apple trees, thus earning his famous nickname. Dennis Day narrates (as an "old settler who knew Johnny well") and provides the voices of both Johnny and his guardian angel. The animated short was also released independently on December 25, 1955, as Johnny Appleseed. 

ABOUT THE MEDIUM: A model sheet is a group of character drawings illustrating different poses and expressions of a cartoon character. Because a number of artists worked on a single cartoon, these sheets were circulated to the animators to give a uniform look and feel to a character throughout a production.
