Static Shock

Static Shock is an animated television series produced by Warner Bros. Animation, which aired from 2000 to 2004. The series is based on the Milestone, DC comic book character Static, created by Dwayne McDuffie, Derek Dingle, Denys Cowan, and Michael Davis. In the series, high school student Virgil Hawkins lives in the city of Dakota. After exposure to a mutagenic gas during what becomes known as "The Big Bang," he gains the ability to manipulate and generate electromagnetic energy, becoming a "Bang Baby" — one of many individuals in Dakota who gain superpowers from the gas. With guidance from his friend and mentor, hardware store owner Albrecht, Virgil decides to use his powers for good, adopting the superhero persona "Static." The show follows Virgil's adventures as he balances his life as a typical teenager – dealing with school, family, and friends – with his secret life as a superhero. Static encounters various other Bang Babies in Dakota, many of whom use their powers for evil, forcing Static to intervene. Along the way, Virgil learns important lessons about responsibility, friendship, and the complexities of growing up.
