ABOUT THE ARTIST: Legendary cartoon director Tex Avery directed multiple commercials during the 1950s and 60s during the dark age of animation. According to the 1975 issue of Film Comment magazine, Avery directed a series of commercials for the bug spray brand Raid, produced by Warner and MGM veteran Jack Zander, where the spray became numerous instruments of death. The Raid commercial and the Kool Aid commercials can be partially found online. His earliest commercials was for a toothpaste brand called Pepsodent. [1]
ABOUT THE MEDIUM: Original production cels and Drawings are one-of-a-kind pieces of art that were used in the creation of an animated film or television show. Each has been hand-painted by studio artists on a piece of celluloid acetate and has been photographed over a background painting to create a frame of the finished production.
