ABOUT THE ARTIST: Rob Kaz ,following graduation from UCF, began working for a number of small animation studios. Because Disney had recently relocated their animation studios to California and left many animators in Central Florida who chose not to uproot, Rob found himself working" alongside, quite possibly, the most talented artists I've ever known right there in those small studios." Their influence was invaluable.

While at the studios, Rob had the opportunity to work in many areas of film. In particular, the time spent in character creation and environments heavily influenced his painting style.

For some time, Rob worked as a character artist for Electronic Arts (EA Tiburon) creating human likenesses in games such as Madden and NCAA football.

When Rob paints, he imagines places he'd rather be and he imagines friends along the way. Those two categories, Places I'd Rather Be and Friends Along the Way, occurred naturally as Rob began building a body of work. In most cases, his paintings easily fall into one or the other (and sometimes both).

When his last contract ended with EA, Rob took a leap of faith and began painting full-time. Today, Rob's work is a mirror of his background in animation and video game art.

ABOUT THE FILM: Paperman is a 2012 American black-and-white computer-cel animated romantic comedy short film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and directed by John Kahrs that blends traditional and computer animation. The short won both the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 85th Academy Awards and the Annie Award for Best Animated Short Subject at the 40th Annie Awards. Paperman was the first animated short film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios to win an Academy Award since 1969's It's Tough to Be a Bird.

A young accountant named George is standing on an elevated train platform in the 1940s at New York City, holding a folder, when he is hit by a flying piece of paper. The paper is chased by a young woman named Meg who lost it to a gust of wind from a passing train. The same thing happens to George when a subsequent gust of wind from another incoming train dislodges one of the papers from his folder and blows it into Meg's face, leaving a lipstick-smudged kiss imprinted on the paper, much to her amusement when George retrieves it. He is entranced by the lipstick mark and Meg's beauty and therefore misses her boarding the departing train. The two exchange looks as she departs.
