Scooby-Doo is a talking Great Dane who is the mascot of Mystery Inc., a group of teenage detectives who solve mysteries involving supernatural creatures. He was created in 1969 by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears for Hanna-Barbera Productions. He is very loyal to his best friend Shaggy Rogers, who shares his cowardly and hungry personality.

The animated series Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? first premiered in 1969 and was produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions. Over the last five decades, the franchise has spawned 15 TV series (airing on CBS, ABC, the WB, Cartoon Network and Boomerang), more than 40 animated films, and 2 live action movies — one of which grossed $275 million worldwide. The stories feature brainiac Velma, jock Fred, fashionista Daphne, hippie Shaggy, and the talking Great Dane Scooby-Doo, who pile into their Mystery Machine van and hit the road searching for weird phenomena to solve.
