ABOUT THE IMAGE:
Carl Barks' fowl miser, Uncle Scrooge McDuck, is the twentieth century's counterpart to Charles Dickens' forerunner Ebenezer Scrooge, and he plays true to his ducky role in a setting of infamous stinginess, "A Christmas Trimming." Another Rainbow's fifteenth mini-lithograph in a continuing series, this twelve-color image-area print was taken from Barks' 1972 oil painting, Christmas Composition, retitled by "The Old Duck Man."

Unique in its production, "A Christmas Trimming" is only the second print released by Another Rainbow with a three-dimensionally paper-sculpted surface (the first, issued in 1993, was a portrait of Scrooge in a familiar attitude and pose as a Pick and Shovel Laborer). It is the first and only Carl Barks lithograph with a pearl-dust ink applied to enhance the effect of the falling snow (an old Japanese woodblock technique dating back to the 1800s). This piece is signed by Carl Barks at the lower right and numbered 171 in a regular edition of 595. "©The Walt Disney Company" and Another Rainbow's "AR" symbol are embossed at lower left below the image.

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Carl Barks was an American cartoonist, author, and painter. He is best known for his work in Disney comic books, as the writer and artist of the first Donald Duck stories and as the creator of Scrooge McDuck. He worked anonymously until late in his career; fans dubbed him "The Duck Man" and "The Good Duck Artist."
